Our Story: The Meaning Behind Koloa
The name Koloa is borrowed from the Polynesian language of Tonga, where it translates directly to "ancestral wealth," "treasure," or "vital community resources." In traditional Pacific cultures, koloa is not standard currency; it refers to the deep, collective value created by a people—treasures meant to protect, sustain, and develop the community.
We selected this global term for a profound Liberian purpose. The global network of technology professionals representing Liberia—from software engineers and data scientists to tech directors and executives—is a vital, highly valuable national treasure. Our diaspora is Liberia’s greatest modern human resource. By mapping this talent, we are cataloging our nation’s truest wealth.
